SITUATION

I Love Regina Day is an annual civic pride celebration.   On June 9, 2012 the celebration was held in downtown Regina for the grand opening of the City Square Plaza.

Regina Downtown Business Improvement District wanted to host a chalk art festival and scavenger hunt that showcased its members and encouraged families to come back after the event.   With a limited budget, sponsors and partners needed to be recruited.

RESPONSIBILITY

I helped recruit the Association of Regina Realtors' Inc. to provide financial support for the Chalk Art Festival.  I also organized event day logistics, scheduled volunteers, coordinated programming with a Chalk Artist and secured prizes for best chalk art.

For the first ever I Love Regina Day scavenger hunt I partnered with downtown businesses and attractions.  At each location a Saskatchewan Roughriders' Gainer the Gopher stuffie was staged for people to find as they followed scavenger hunt clues throughout downtown Regina.

I provided social media promotion for both events by writing Twitter and Facebook posts.  I also organized a contest to increase Facebook fans and e-newsletter subscribers.
