COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING

SITUATION

The Regina Downtown Business Improvement District's mandate is to improve the quality of life for those who shop, work, live and play downtown.  I was hired to activate and promote activities in Victoria Park and the new City Square Plaza.  The focus was to partner with community organizations, host program events for all ages, attract people downtown and in turn drive economic business growth.

RESPONSIBILITY

The City Square was opened in 2012. That same year, I was hired to facilitate and activate this new program space.I wrote a new Program Policy and promotional tools to acquire new partners who provided programming in-kind.  I reached out to community groups and sold the benefits of partnering with Regina Downtown. Partners provided programming like yoga, zumba and meditation free of charge in turn for promotion through the BID's network and advertising.  Once the program was scheduled I worked with an advertising agency to create promotional materials including print, radio and digital advertising.  I also wrote media releases, social media posts and biweekly e-newsletters to grow awareness and participation.

RESULTS

Facilitated 80 free summer events in Regina Downtown that positively impacted business growth

Recruited fourteen new partners who provided free programming for a variety of interests and ages

Managed program promotion and partner recognition via social, direct, digital, print and radio advertising.

This included word of mouth advertising by the Info on the Go team and distribution of What's Happening Downtown biweekly printed guides

Wrote seven biweekly e-newsletters and several Twitter and Facebook posts

"I would describe Roberta as detailed orientated, energetic and enthusiastic while managing her projects. She was willing to research and introduce new ideas and partnerships which benefited the organization."
